Scuba Gear Packages
If you’re just jumping into diving, one of the best ways to get started is with a retailer’s or online store’s scuba gear packages. In these convenient sets, you’ll find most of what you need to get started right away into diving. Some even come with added options to take advantage of what you’re interested in such as photography.
For a beginner, a set of equipment will most likely include a set of fins, a snorkel, a mask, a Buoyancy Control Device (BCD), and a regulator. What is all of this? The fins, mask, and snorkel are probably the most familiar of the equipment. These help you move around in the water effectively and enjoy the sights. Many novices ask why they need a snorkel to dive, and the reason is that, snorkels save air when you are moving along the surface and are harder for disturbances like waves to knock out of your mouth. Your BCD and regulator attach to your air tank. The regulator allows you to breathe and the BCD will help you control your descent and ascent in the water.
Many beginners wonder why a tank is not included. The reason is that they are very expensive and require heavy maintenance. Starting kits help you get equipment that is of good quality and all works together at a discount rate. You want have to shop around quite so much and you can be sure that when you start, that your main pieces are going to work.
Best of all, most packages come with some sort of bag or backpack to easily lug your gear around safely and conveniently.
